New Kirk to Charter

It's been a journey of 6 + years, but on Sunday, October 19th, New Kirk New Church Development will officially become New Kirk Presbyterian ChurchOrganizing Pastor Scott Bowerman will be installed as the first Pastor of the new church, members will be ordained as Elders and a new Session formed.  It is not very often that a presbytery has the experience of seeing a group of folks that meet in a home become a congregation of over 200!  Recently land was purchased in Blythewood, SC for the purpose of establishing a physical building of their own.  Currently, New Kirk meets at the Sandlapper Elementary School, Columbia, SC.  All are invited to attend the chartering service that will be held at 4:00 p.m. on the 19th.

New Website to Debut

The presbytery will debut a new website design at the stated meeting on October 12, 2008 at Fairview Presbyterian Church.  It will feature not only a new look but lots of new services that will facilitate searches for churches, pastors and projects.  Soon sign-up for workshops and paying online will be available.  We are trying to take advantage of the new technology available in hopes that it will benefit our ministers, educators and congregations.  Stay tuned!

Stated Meeting of Presbytery to be Held

The Fall Stated Meeting of Trinity Presbytery will be held Sunday, October 12, 2008 convening at 2:30 p.m.  at Fairview Presbyterian Church in North Augusta.  This is the first stated meeting to be held on Sunday afternoon.  This is one of the directives that came out of the Mission Discern Task Force that was adopted at the February 2008 meeting.  Also adopted was the idea that each meeting will be themed around one of the presbytery emphases.  This meeting will highlight "communication".  A new committee of Council has been formed, the Communication Committee.  This group will demonstrate some of the new ways that communication can be carried out.  Also, an outside consultant will conduct a survey during the meeting to see how effectively the presbytery communicates, and ways to do a better job.

Over 50 Adult Retreat

Save the dates of October 6-8, 2008 and join fellow "over 50" adults at Camp Fellowship for the annual retreat.  This year's theme is:  "Those Shocking Stories Jesus Told - (The Parables)".  The Older Adult Committee has a great line-up of speakers scheduled:  Rev. Alice Ridgill, Rev. Dr. Danny Murphy, and Rev. Dr. Doug Vaughan.  To download a brochure and registration form, please click here.
